Brianna Berry – Guest Speaker

Guest speaker Brianna Berry, Granville state School Chaplain, enthralled all as she related highlights of her life.  “I am a child of God – I am God’s daughter, He is my Father, I gave my life to God at age 4, was baptised at 10, read the Bible throughout my teenage years, but until recently I could not understand how God could really love someone like me”.  Now because of all my lifes’ experiences I am assured, I truly know that he really and truly loves me and you and that nothing can EVER separate us from the love of God – NOTHING.

Following the singing of the song ‘In the house of God’ Pastor Wayne George led our Bible Study time under the theme “The Fathers Heart”.  Pastor George used the title of his study to teach us that ‘The Fathers Heart’ is – One of Love – One of seeking – One of providing – One of covering.

From the words of Ephesians 3:17-19 we looked at the dimensions of God’s love; How wide – How long – How high and how deep is the Fathers love followed, as we looked at verses from Jeremiah 31, Psalm 103, Romans 8, Psalm 8, John 15 and Romans 5.  From Luke 14 we learned to know that Jesus “dares” us to love the “unlovable”. Through the story of the Prodigal Son (Luke 15) we looked at the Father’s response.  O what a glimpse into the heart of the Father God: forever chasing after!  Forever seeking!  Forever watching and waiting for his wayward children to return home and be back around his table where they belong!  The way of Calvary’s cross gave us ALL we ever need – NOTHING can separate us from the love of God.  Thank you Pastor George.

A scrumptious lunch highlighted with 5 varieties of delicious homemade soups, followed.

During the praise session – “Lord of all Hopefulness” – “How Great Thou Art” – “Because we bear Your name”, a collection of $458.55 was received.  Recipients will be Maryborough State School Chaplaincy and Mary and Martha’s, half each.

During her report LWQ State President, Karen Bryce, highlighted that the 2017 Retreat hosted by this zone and being held at James Byrne Centre on the second weekend in March.  LWQ Convention next weekend with 121 members registered.  Guest speakers, guests and gentleman attending making a total registration of 151, this is similar to the number who attended the LWA Convention.

LYQ Luminate programme will be our new project.

The host Guild entertained us with an item based on the Promises of God.

Lyn Wiese presented the closing devotion while Denise Hatch from Hervey Bay delivered a vote of thanks.  A delicious afternoon tea bought to close a very rewarding day of study, fellowship and praise.

Thank you and well done St Matthews’
