Report from 50th Anniversary of Redeemer Lutheran Women’s Guild Laidley
Sunday 5 March 2017 Redeemer Lutheran Women’s Fellowship Laidley celebrated 50 years of fellowship and service to our Lord and church. 50 years ago there was 2 Guilds then with amalgamation of the 2 synods Redeemer Lutheran Women’s Guild met as a combined Guild 14 February 2017. Current president Mrs. Elsie Oddi welcomed all to the service which included past members and visiting West Moreton Zone Guild members and announced the first Hymn the Churches one Foundation and a small procession of cross bearer, followed by members of our present day Fellowship carrying the bible and communion elements.
Members were involved in the service with a reading of the history of the Guild by President Mrs. Elsie Oddi, noting that today our numbers are much smaller and we are known as Redeemer Lutheran Women’s Fellowship. Over the 50 years our Guild/Fellowship Bible study has been the only constant bible study in our church. Many projects of the church, LWA and LWQ have been supported throughout the years and in the early days of Tabeel Lutheran Home members would front up with buckets and help with the cleaning.
Other members were involved in the bible readings and the general prayer which included prayers for our faithful members past and present, LWA, LWQ, WMZ executive members and local president Elsie Oddi and members, magazine editors Robyn Kuckel and Inari Thiele.
Mrs. Elsa Joseph made and iced our anniversary cake and this was cut by the first Vice President 1967 Mrs. Pearl Weier and present day president Mrs. Elsie Oddi.
After service members and visitors enjoyed fellowship and morning tea on the church terrace.
