St John’s Lutheran Women’s Guild, Wilsonton Toowoomba Qld 90th Anniversary Birthday Celebrations On 17 May…
West Moreton Zone Fellowship Day – 29th October, 2024
WEST MORETON ZONE of LWQ FELLOWSHIP DAY
Held at Redeemer Lutheran Church, Laidley 29TH October 2024
Theme: “FAMILY” 1 Corinthians 2 v 27 “You are the body of Christ”.
The day began with a devotion led by Pastor Jing Luan. Vice President of Laidley, Shirley Meier and WMZ Vice President Faye Gutzke welcomed everyone.
Shirley Klinge explained the display: The globe had a cut out figure of Christ on top.
The figures around the globe represent Christians around the world. The poster showed how we all work together in the church using our different talents. The graphic depicted the family of the church being held in the arms of Christ.
Faith Lutheran College Choir presented an item and led the singing of the selected “Family” songs. We adjourned for morning tea together. After morning tea, Pastor Peter Geyer led the Bible study “Family” based on the text for the day. We discussed what family is!. Through baptism we become part of God’s family. Our church family lasts for eternity. We looked at what jobs we have in the church family. Today’s families are under pressure from the everyday life. It is important to stay connected with our family and our church family.
Guest speaker Mrs. Kayleen Geyer who works for the Smith Family. Kayleen is the staff team leader for Ipswich, Mackay and Cairns. The Smith Family works in schools providing educational programs and financial support for children from Prep to Year 12. They also provide four-year tertiary scholarships. They offer a hand up, not a hand out. They aim to change children’s lives today to give them a brighter tomorrow. The Smith Family partners with business, government and the public to gain funding for their programs which aim to break the cycle of the disadvantaged. Our offering of $585 was donated to the Smith’s Family Learning for Life Program. Kayleen’s talk was very informative. Jill Manteufel from Gatton presented Kayleen with flowers and a gift.
Pastor Peter Geyer presided over the elections which had been postponed from our April Rally Day due to no nominations being received. Praise the Lord! Our prayers have been answered with all positions filled. This means going forward the West Moreton Zone will continue to function.
