Cancellation: 19th National Convention

The LWA Executive committee regrets to inform everyone that the decision has been made to cancel our 19th National Convention due to be held on 24–26 September 2021 at Horsham, Victoria.

Given the widespread threat of COVID-19 continuing in Australia, along with government restrictions and shut-downs, the uncertainty of the risks involved with finalising plans for convention would be unsafe, unwise and cause anxiety for all concerned, including workers, guests and visitors to Horsham.

It is particularly disappointing, as plans for an exciting event have been completed and the committee was looking forward to hosting all guests at the beautiful venue. Everyone misses out on face-to-face meeting, worship and fellowship together, and the chance to hear what is happening in LWA on a national basis. (Refunds will be sent to anyone who has registered and paid for their meals. Those who have booked and paid for the SA bus tour are asked to contact Tracy Smith).

Elections for the incoming LWA Executive Committee and voting on several of the proposals outlined in the upcoming Lutheran Women magazine (August/September edition) which will contain the Book of Reports, have been ratified by LWA Executive Committee and representatives from each state during a recent Zoom Meeting. Some proposals require ‘member voting’ and Voting Papers and explanations will be circulated to each Guild/Fellowship, for the opportunity to be a part of this event and ask that forms be returned ASAP to enable the finalisation to all that was proposed and a smooth transition for the new incoming Executive. It is hoped that the Installation Service for our new LWA Executive Committee will be live streamed, details closer to this Service.
