The first week in July saw over 60 children from grades 3 – 6 converge on Luther Heights Youth Camp, Coolum for Lutheran Youth of Queensland’s inaugural Winter Kids Camp.
Winter Kids Camp was born out of a desire to offer a camping experience for primary-school aged children through the Winter school holidays. So we took a leap of faith, prepared, prayed…and were blown away by the response. Winter Kids Camp was double the size predicted, with over 20 new families engaging with our camping ministry for the first time. With 24 incredible leaders, directors, camp parents and a chaplain on hand to support and encourage every camper, these children were able to grow in their relationship with God and others in a safe, loving, Christian community. But don’t just take our word for it, here’s just a snippet of the feedback from Winter Kids Camp:
“For our son, the camp has been a major milestone. The intentional, inclusive, caring, safety-promoting nature of the camp culture made the camp a space that brought out his strengths, helped him safely ‘stretch’ to try new activities, meet new people, grown in independence, experience success, feel safe and confident and have fun and feel appreciated.”
“I wish I could live at Winter Kids Camp, I loved all of the leaders and made so many friends, now I can’t wait for Summer!” WKC Camper
Thank you for your ongoing, generous support that enabled campers and leaders to experience an incredible week at Winter Kids Camp 2018.
